The World After Running Out Of Fossil Fuels Would Be A
The world after running out of fossil fuels would be a horrible place for living. life would be hard and harsh. This is the case for us if we couldnââ¬â¢t find new energy resources. Nowadays, many countries are reliant on energy from conventional sources like crude oil, natural gas, and coal. These sources are limited and they eventually will run out at some point in the future. Considering this fact and increasing demands for energy, the search for new energy resources is reasonable and it should be taken seriously. In recent years, renewable energy resources have proven as an interesting alternative to conventional energy resources. Renewable energy resources like wind energy, solar energy, and hydropower result from the natural process andâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Nonrenewable energy resources are still the main resources for the production of energy in many countries. Although there is an uncertainty about the estimation of the amount of these energy resources and the tim e for these resources to run out, they are finite resources (Spiers et al, 2015). In fact, the current rate of consuming these sources and the increasing demand for future are the reasons for fear of exhausting of nonrenewable energy. There have been arguments regarding using this energy efficiently or finding new resources to replace this energy (Luthra et al, 2015). For instance, coal as the most abundant energy resource among other fossil fuels will last just for next 250 years and the others will run out even sooner. (Mathew,2006) The other issue with fossil is its environmental impact especially the production of Greenhouse Gas which has been a serious concern around the world recently (Luthra et al, 2015). The amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) has been changed in the last 400000 years and the rise is expected. This rise was significant in past centuries and as an example, this rise in concentration for last 40 years has been almost 50%. It is clear that the generating energy fro m the burning of fuel plays an important role in this increase. A coal ââ¬â fired power plant can produce 6-8 megatons of CO2 every year. (Khoo et al., 2006). Taking this fact into consideration, climate changeShow MoreRelatedUnited States Energy Crisis During 1970 Essay examples1271 Words à |à 6 PagesThe energy crisis of the 1970ââ¬â¢s caused authorities to search out other renewable sources of energy, which currently remain undeveloped and keep the U.S. today generally dependant on foreign fuel. The Tipping Point Free Essays
In the novel, The Tipping Point, by Malcolm Gladwell epidemics are meant to include smoking, crime and even Hush Puppies. People you know can spread social or medical epidemics. Epidemic: Spreading rapidly and extensively by infection and affecting many individuals in an area or a population at the same time. We will write a custom essay sample on The Tipping Point or any similar topic only for you Order Now In the novel, The Tipping Point, by Malcolm Gladwell he explains many epidemics that have effected everyone in one way or another. For example, Hush Puppies, teenage smoking, and crime in cities. It is said that there are three people involved in the spread of many epidemics. These people are mavens, salesmen, and connectors. Mavens are people who live to learn. Maven comes from the Yiddish, it means one who accumulates knowledge. (60) It is said that mavens are ââ¬Å"obsessedâ⬠with getting the best deal on items. Also involved in spreading an epidemic is a ââ¬Å"salesman. â⬠This person has the skills to persuade other people that are unconvinced of the idea we are hearing. (70) The last and most commonly heard is a connector. A connector is one person who knows a wide range of people. ââ¬Å"Sprinkled amount every walk of life, in other words, are a handful of people with a truly extraordinary knack of making friends and acquaintances. They are Connectors. â⬠(41) Two significant men in the novel are Bernard Goetz, and Roger Horchow. Horchow is described as a Connector, whereas Goetz would be considered a salesman. A Successful business man in the area of Dallas, Roger Horchow is a prime example of a connector. Horchow has backed popular Broadway plays such as Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera. Horchow had scored a 98 on a list of randomly selected names from a Manhattan phonebook, the average score was not that high. What makes him know so many people? He told Gladwell, that he was not using his range of people as a business strategy, and he did not consider it a collection (43) but for him to know. Horchow has the memory to remember the little boys he played with when he young. Remembering every name, and address of the person. (44) When in the business world you meet many different people. If you are a true business man and this person you have met would help you succeed, one would remember them. I know many connectors that are in my life, but when writing this one comes into mind. Phil Marcario, or as me and my friends had come to know him, Uncle Phil. He owns a restaurant that is known by many. Uncle Phil moves around a lot, from Cutchogue, to Wading River, to Rocky Point, and now to Jamesport, and Florida. Holidays and occasions as he talks about the people he knows, I constantly ask him ââ¬Å"How do you know so many peopleâ⬠. He simply answers, ââ¬Å"People owe me a lot of favors. That could be the Italian in him speaking, but after reading the Tipping Point, I often wonder if he is a connector and has started epidemics. ââ¬Å"Perhaps it is best to call the Connector impulse simply that- an impulse, just one of the many personality traits that distinguish one human being from another. â⬠(46) December, 22 1984, something unthinkable happened on a subwa y in New York City. Bernard Goetz shot four young boys who were attempting to mug Goetz. (134) Some would say he was asking to be mugged by sitting next to the boys when the car was completely empty. But was he demonstrating something to the other subway goers? This man was considered a hero by many. He had shown people that there is a way to stop being mugged, although it was violent and illegal. Illegal and ungodly, sure, but the cityââ¬â¢s crime rate reached ââ¬Å"epidemic proportions. â⬠(135) Murders had now seem to drop by two thirds of what they had been. A salesmen is someone who persuades and convinces other people to buy, or believe something. How is Goetz a salesmen? He sold the idea that there is a way of lower the crime in New York City. This shooting open doors for subways. The Graffiti was symbolic of the collapse of the system. â⬠(142) Soon enough the subway companies brought in David Gunn to help with this problem. Every night the cars would be painted over covering the fresh graffiti that youths had done. No car that was dirty would be used on the tracks. A salesman makes emotional sense of an idea or an object. (200) A salesman convinces the unco nvinced, and teaches the uneducated. Goetz taught New York City officials about the crime in a violent matter, but both my mother and Goetz taught a person, or a while city by doing. Connecters, Mavens, and Salesman fall into one of the three laws that were described in the book The law of the Few. This law says that those three categories of people are the ones responsible for spreading epidemics. So if one were ever thinking of spreading a word-of-mouth epidemic, you would want them to be your prime resource. (256) Roger Horchow and Bernard Goetz two men who had spread or had the ability to spread epidemics make you think that there are many people close to you that can too spread social and public epidemics. Early Childhood Education and Care
Question: Discuss about the Early Childhood Education and Care. Answer: Introduction Food is a basic human need that must be used by everyone because it is essential for growth and development. Human growth is an extensive process that takes a long time. Biologically, human beings transit from infancy, childhood, adulthood, and elderly stages. Each of these stages is important and should be properly handled. The purpose of this paper is to present a critical analysis of role of healthy food to the children and the strategies that can be applied by the parents to effectively maintain a nutritious, healthy and safe environment for the children. Benefits of Healthy Food to the Children The privilege of child-bearing comes with lots of responsibilities that should be properly executed. Apart from providing providing the children with shelter, clothing, and education, the parents should be ready to provide the children with a safe environment to live. A safe environment is a place where the childrens health is guaranteed. To achieve this, the children should be given a healthy diet. Provision of a healthy diet implies that the children are given means that contains a right amount of proteins, carbohydrates, mineral salts, and vitamins (Freeland-Graves Nitzke, 2013). A healthy diet is important because it can benefit the children in many ways. The first benefit of a healthy diet is that it can provide the children with the energy required for their growth and development. A healthy diet can provide the children with the adequate energy that they require because it contains carbohydrates and starch. Children, just like adults should be given energy-rich diet consisting of foods like rice and maize meal. When the children are given right proportions of carbohydrates, they get all the energy that is required to support life. When children have energy, they can be empowered to perform a wide range of activities in their day-to-day lives. It is this energy that can be used by the children to move around and engage in other physical activities that can also improve the quality of their lives. The other benefit of a healthy diet is that it can provide the children with protection. Since a balanced diet contains vitamins, it is right to argue that the children who use it will benefit from all the protections that it offers. There are so many diseases that are related to nutrition. These include marasmus, scabies, kwashiorkor, and many more (Just Price, 2013). These diseases which are of course linked to poor eating habits can be prevented if the children are provided with a food rich in vitamins A, B, C, D, and E. each of these diseases is dangerous because it can negatively impair the life of a child. However, the most effective remedial measure to apply when dealing with these illnesses is to provide the children with a nutritious diet which contains all the required vitamins. The eradication of such illnesses can provide the children with an opportunity to grow up well and healthily. Last, but not least, a healthy diet can enable the children to have a stable cognitive, physical and mental health. Apart from addressing the cases of nutritious diseases, a healthy diet can help the children to keep lifestyle diseases like obesity at bay. Childhood obesity is a condition that is caused by poor eating habits. However, the god news is that the condition can be prevented and managed if proper eating habits are adopted particularly if the parents refrain from feeding the children with sugar-rich fast and junk foods (Freeland-Graves Nitzke, 2013). Better still; a healthy diet can help in enhancing the cognitive development of children. Research has proven that healthy eating can enable the children to improve their intelligence and academic performance. Therefore, the parents should not hesitate to provide the children with healthy diets. It means well for the general well-being of the children. Strategies that will Effectively Maintain a Nutritious, Healthy and Safe Environment for Children Parenting is not a simple task. It is a complex activity that requires a lot of preparations. The parents who are entrusted with the upbringing of children should therefore be provided with adequate education on how to provide their children with a healthy diet. The parents should be provided with training during antenatal and post natal care. At the same time, health promotional campaigns should be launched to sensitize the parents on how to care for the children. During such initiatives, the parents should be educated to adopt certain strategies. Firstly, the parents should be informed that they should introduce and maintain a healthy eating habit in their children by only providing healthy foods to the children. The parents should not feed the children with fast foods because it can lead to lifestyle diseases. Instead, the parents should provide a balanced diet that is made up of the right proportions of fruits, vegetables, and proteins. Secondly, the parents should not only introduce such healthy foods, but strive to encourage the children to use it as they grow up. Children should be taught, at an earlier age, that only fresh foods from the groceries and farmers stores should be used because it is good for their health (Just Price, 2013). At the same time, the parents should actively involve children in the choice, preparation, and usage of healthy foods. When eating, the parents visit the shopping malls; they should introduce healthy foods to the children and teach them that it is the only food to use. If this is done, the children will grow up believing that it is only the fresh and healthy foods that should be eaten. Apart from encouraging a healthy eating habit on the children, the parents should promote the physical fitness of the kids. A leaf should be borrowed from the Munch and Move program which advocates for childrens physical health. In the program, children are motivated to eat healthily and engage in physical activities. Therefore, the parents should do all these and come up with stringent guidelines to prevent their children from spending too much time watching the television (Freeland-Graves Nitzke, 2013). This can enable the children to lead a healthy life. Conclusion Food is a very significant resource for everyone. Children should be introduced to healthy foods because it is good for their health. During childhood, children should be properly cared for. The parents should provide the children with essential needs such as food, shelter, clothing, education, and healthcare services. These are fundamental needs that can enable the children to grow well. For example, when it comes to food, the children should be provided with healthy food to enable them to lead a healthy life. To achieve this, the parents should use appropriate strategies that can enable the children to learn and get used to healthy eating habits. References Freeland-Graves, J.H. Nitzke, S. (2013). Early Childhood Education and Care Question: Discuss about the Early Childhood Education and Care. Answer: 1. According to me, intellectual wellness is concerned with the enthusiastic participation of the individuals in cultural, scholastic, and societal activities, it is important to expand and sustain the intellectual wellness due to the reason that it assists in living a stimulating as well as a successful life. I feel like I had to step up to do something for the children which is afar my job description and when I was able to brought happiness on a child's face. I discovered it is satisfying to me. The intellectual wellness of the staff can be stimulated by improving their skills for learning and studying (Eliopoulos, (2014). They should be able to learn new things regarding way of their intellect process information which can be an essential tool that can assist them to succeed (Robbins et al., 2009). The staff should take time for writing down their thoughts or diary regularly which can assist them to struggle with their feelings and try to make sense regarding their inside feelings (Van Slyke-Briggs, 2010). When they will learn to recognize their way of thinking and understanding themselves, their actions will augment their intellectual wellness by the exposure of their mind to think deeply. They should also learn a foreign language which can be advantageous to their intellectual health as well as prospects of employment (Johnson, 2007). The place of work should offer opportunities for the staff to attend training such as exercises or meditation or a formal training such as management of stress or counseling for building association". Overall the center management should provide support to ensure that all staff is feeling appreciated and their wellbeing is vital to the team. Opportunities for personal development and leave entitlements should be provided time to time so that the educators are able to rejuvenate their body and soul. When they will learn through different ways, their minds will expand and develop effectively. It will not only help them being amenable to new knowledge but it will also broaden the already learned information (Vize, 2015). 2. The story of stuff is a short documentary regarding the material goods lifecycle. It promotes sustainability and is critical of extreme consumerism. It is utilized in elementary schools, economic classes, arts program and corporate sustainability. It exposes the associations between an enormous number of social and environmental issues. It calls every individual to create a world which is more sustainable (Reynolds, 2009). According to me, it teaches us something and also may alter the way by which we look at the stuffs in our life everlastingly. I personally liked it because it is appropriate and can be shown to the children who would understand the outline as in this documentary there is not any complex and is easy to comprehend by anyone. It has mainly focused on the recycling industry. The presenter talked like if she was speaking to a child. It has revealed a reality which is completely true. The saddest part of it is that it is happening in the existing scenario. I really liked the use of cartoons for depictions. It has changed my life as after watching it, I have reduced my intake of meat and trying to eat organic foods and I always try to keep the lights and electrical devices off when they are not in use (Sorte et al., 2014). 3. For me, spirituality is an extensive perception and comprises a sense of relationship with something superior than ourselves. According to me, it characteristically does not have any involvement with the religion involves an exploration for the meaning of life and it also teaches us to practice kindness and experience love. In this world, the way I experience spirituality need not consist of a definite religion. Whenever I think regarding spirituality it is wide-ranging, without creed, holistic and in particular is grounded in worship, truth, and kindness. It is a beautiful method by which we can elucidate our connectedness, force of life, collective personality and eternal energy (Donatelle, 2014). Within a period of time, I have learned to reflect my own thoughts and I also discovered to approach my thoughts to the other individuals as wee as to the children for whom I am caring. Talking about my personal life, I have observed two diverse customs and cultures at my home and in a extensive society (Hard, 2006). Spirituality can be learned by the children from an early stage by acknowledging their instructors and friends and by gaining the knowledge of the society in which they live. The natural forces for instance rain and sunshine are the very essential elements for the children to know the feelings of spirituality and progressively when they will get matured they will gain additional senses. They will also be able to frame their thoughts. The journey of spirituality in no way ends; it only just gets modified to novel aspects when the experience of human diversity ends. Being an educator, I think I should assist the children to recognize their individual soul and to safeguard their ability by which they are able to perform and which provides them with enormous pleasure (Minniss et al., 2013). War Literature free essay sample
An analysis of All Quiet On the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque This paper reviews the book as war literature. The author introduces the reader to the many war crimes, giving an insight into the dark side of the psyche of man, and his inhumanity to his fellowman. This war had a dramatic effect upon the soldiers. An example of this is when Paul talks about a fellow soldier in the trenches. The first recruit seems to have gone completely crazy. If we let go of him he butts his head against the wall like a goat. The intensity of the combat these soldiers encountered caused physical and mental anguish that was indelible in nature. These traumatic experiences burnt images into their minds permanently, causing these poor victims of war to relive these memories in their mind over and over again. Exactly How Long Should You Study for the ACT A 6-Step Guide
Exactly How Long Should You Study for the ACT A 6-Step Guide SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips In planning your ACT prep, you probably want to know how long you need to study. Is it weeks or months? Is it dozens of hours or hundreds? The answer to these questions depends on a variety of factors, including your target score and how comfortable you already are with the test material. Thereââ¬â¢s no reason to torture yourself with endless studying if your scores are already in the right range for your top choice schools. On the other hand, if you're still pretty far away from the scores you want, you may have to work harder than you think. In this guide, I'll show you how to figure out how much you need to improve, how many hours you need to spend to get there, and how you should build a study schedule before your next real ACT. Step 1: Find Your ACT Target Score Your ACT target score is the score you're aiming for that'll be high enough to get you into your top schools. You can download this free guide to calculate your target ACT score. You can alsocheck out this articlefor a quick look at how to find an appropriate target score for your goals. The easiest way to determine a target score is to Google your top choice school and ââ¬Å"ACT scores.â⬠You should be able to find a 25th percentile score and a 75th percentile score for the school. The range between the two represents the scores of the middle 50 percent of admitted students. Aim for the 75th percentile score (a higher score than 75 percent of the schoolââ¬â¢s admitted students) as your target to make sure you have the best chances of acceptance! Step 2: Take a Practice ACT to Determine Your Starting Point Here's a link to five free printable ACT practice tests, complete with answer keys so you can grade them yourself.Take one of these practice tests so you can see where you are relative to your target score. When I say to take a practice test, I don't mean answer questions for a section casually throughout the day while watching YouTube videos in the background. Really force yourself to live the experience of the ACT as it is in the actual test environment. Set aside a weekend morning and go through each section with the same constraints you would have on the real test. Why should you subject yourself to such torment? Because it's the only way to get a good estimate of where you stand in relation to your target score. Time pressure is a huge factor on the ACT, and it can impact your score significantly. Furthermore, going through all the sections in a row forces you to account for any fatigue you might experience on the later sections of the test. If you already know your starting point scores from a previous test or practice test, great! As soon as you settle on your test date, you'll be ready to cook up a study plan. A bitter Salvador Dali painted this to try and convince himself that time was a meaningless construct after he ran out of it on the ACT. Step 3: Decide When You'll Take the Real ACT We recommend taking the ACT for the first time during your junior fall in our Complete Study Plan. That way you'll be able to retake the test in the spring if necessary, and you'll be free to devote your senior year to college apps and devising elaborate senior pranks. If you're already coming up on senior fall and have to take the ACT in September or October no matter what, thatââ¬â¢s OK too.Either way, you can find a study plan that works for you. Step 4: Figure Out How Many Hours You Need to Study Here is a rough guide to how many hours of study time you should put in for a given point improvement: Composite ACT Points You Want to Improve Hours of Study Needed 0-1 points 10 hours 1-2 points 20 hours 2-4 points 40 hours 4-6 points 80 hours 6-9 points 150+ hours Keep in mind that this is just a rough estimate of the hours you will need to put in to improve your score. If you want to improve 0-1 points, you'll probably be able to accomplish your goal with light review, a single practice test, and a retake of the official test. As you can see, the time you need to devote to studying if you're hoping for improvements of more than a few points is pretty significant. If you want to improve by more than 4 points or so, you'll have to do some in-depth content work to address gaps in your knowledge. The ACT tests a lot of different concepts, so it can take a while to cover them all. This is why an earlier start is better. Ideally you should start studying sophomore year to space out your hours and gradually gain familiarity with the structure of the test.Everyone has different study habits and restrictions on time, so you should further customize your plan while keeping these hour estimates as a baseline. Step 5: Create a Plan Based on Your Time Constraints and Studying Style How many weeks do you have before the test? How much time can you devote to studying in a typical week? There are many factors that will affect how you decide to study for the ACT. Here are some potential scenarios and corresponding study plans to get you started: Scenario 1: I Want to Improve by 1-2 Points, and I Have a Lot of Other Commitments Try doing some focused studying for an hour or two every week for however much time you have before the test.If you start at least a few months beforehand, you wonââ¬â¢t be overwhelmed with yet another commitment, and you will gradually gain familiarity with questions while learning to avoid the silly mistakes that are costing you points. Two hours a week of studying for two months is a good general goal if you are closer to the test date. If you have four or more months before the test, you could try just an hour a week.Six months of studying for just an hour a week = 26 hours of study time! Scenario 2: I Want to Improve by 5 Points, and I Have the Summer to Study, but Iââ¬â¢m Not Sure Where to Start Unstructured time is hard to manage, but it also means you can choose to study whenever you are most comfortable and least distracted. If you schedule out an afternoon each week when you will focus on studying, a few months may be enough to improve your scores. The chart above recommends around 80 hours of studying for a 5 point improvement. If you have three months to study, that comes out to about five hours a week. Scenario 3: I Want to Improve by 8 Points or More. Am I Crazy? No, you are (probably) perfectly sane! You may want to start studying earlier to catch up on the stuff youââ¬â¢re missing, but itââ¬â¢s doable if you're willing to put in some serious time and effort. If you still have six months before the test, think about which day of the week you will be least stressed by other commitments and schoolwork, and set that afternoon/evening aside for studying.Block out five hours a week for six months in advance of the test, and you should start to see significant positive results. If you have the resources to hire a tutor, this is when you might consider doing so.Theadvice of someone who has experience with the test is usually helpful if you feel like you are lacking in fundamental knowledge. Make sure you bring everything you need for the real ACT to your study sessions, including wacky markers and a regulation diameter globe. Step 6: Consider Factors That Increase or Decrease Study Time Requirements You might have special circumstances that mean you need to customize your study plan more drastically. Some people should study for more or less time based on past experience and time management skills. You May Need to Study for More Time If... You've already studied a lot, and you haven't seen much improvement. This might mean you need to switch up your strategies in addition to studying more. Take an objective look at how you've been using your study time so you can make productive changes. You're easily distracted. If you're spending a large chunk of your study time framing the perfect snapchat of you making a sad face with your ACT materials, you have a distraction problem. Try blocking out more time, and put away electronic devices while studying. It takes a while for you to learn from your mistakes. If you need to practice answering questions a few times before you understand your mistakes fully, you should consider studying for longer periods of time. You Might Improve in Less Time If... You're new to the ACT. If you are someone who has barely looked at the test before and just started studying, you'll see larger score gains in a shorter time. You're a super focused studier. What might take another person two hours to process will take you one, so consider dialing back your study time. You don't want to overdo it and end up with test fatigue. You learn quickly from your mistakes. If you never make the same mistake twice, you also shouldn't go overkill on studying. You probably only have to get the wrong answer once before you can rely on yourself to answer similar questions correctly in the future. Take Home Points You can formulate your ACT study plan based on your goals and the statistics for your top choice schools. The key is starting early! Give yourself more chances to excel. Figure out your target score, take apractice test, and decide how much you need to improve. Determine a realistic number of hours you will need to devote to studying based on your goals. Space out your studying time over the weeks leading up to your test date. Continue to take practice tests to evaluate the effectiveness of your studying and make sure you're on track. Branched Chain Alkane Definition
Branched Chain Alkane Definition An alkane is a saturated hydrocarbon. Alkanes may be linear, branched, or cyclic. Heres what you need to know about the branched alkanes. Branched Alkane Definition A branched chain alkane or branched alkane is an alkane which has alkyl groups bonded to its central carbon chain. Branched alkanes contain only carbon and hydrogen (C and H) atoms, with carbons connected to other carbons by single bonds only, but the molecules contain branches (methyl, ethyl, etc.) so they are not linear.à How to Name Simple Branched Chain Alkanes There are two parts to each name of a branched alkane. You may consider these parts as prefix and suffix, branch name and stem name, or alkyl and alkane. The alkyl groups or substituents are named in the same way as the parent alkanes, except each contains the suffix -yl. When not named, alkyl groups are represented as R-. Here is a table of common substituents: Substituent Name CH3- methyl CH3CH2- ethyl CH3CH2CH2- propyl CH3CH2CH2CH2- butyl CH3CH2CH2CH2CH2- pentyl Names are constructed in the formà locantà à substituent prefixà à root name according to these rules: Name the longest alkane chain. This is the longest string of carbons.Identify the side chains or branches.Name each side chain.Number the stem carbons such that the side chains will have the lowest numbers.Use a hyphen (-) to separate the number of the stem carbon from the name of the side chain. The prefixes di-, tri-, tetra-, penta-, etc. are used when there is more than one alkyl group attached to the main carbon chain, indicating how many times the specific alkyl group occurs.Write the names of different types of alkyl groups in alphabetical order.Branched alkanes may have the prefix iso. Examples of Branched Chain Alkane Names 2-methylpropane (This is the smallest branched chain alkane.)2-methylheptane2,3-dimethylhexane2,3,4-trimethylpentane Different Methods of Representing Branched Alkanes Linear and branched alkanes may be represented using a: skeletal formula, showing only bonds between carbon atomsshortened structural formula, showing atoms, but no bondsfull structural formula, with all atoms and bonds depicted3-D model, showing atoms and bonds in three dimensions Importance and Uses of Branched Alkanes Alkanes do not readily react because they are saturated hydrocarbons. However, they can be made to react to yield energy or to make useful products. Branched alkanes are of particular importance in the petroleum industry. When provided sufficient activation energy, alkanes react with oxygen to produce carbon dioxide, water, and energy, thus alkanes are valuable fuels. The process of cracking breaks longer chains alkanes into smaller alkanes and alkenes to increase octane number and to make polymers.C4-C6 alkanes may be heated with platinum or aluminum oxide catalysts to cause isomerism to produce branched chain alkanes. This is used to improve octane number.Reforming increases the number of cycloalkanes and benzene ring-containing hydrocarbons to improve octane number.

Mintzbergs Leadership Test and Reflection Essay
Mintzbergs Leadership Test and Reflection - Essay Example Participative leaders value the people they work with and use the inputs that members of the team provide, thus they create a committed team based on participation.Ã Advantages of being a participative leader are many. Being a participative leader, there is a scope for growth of other leaders within the organization. The process used by the leaders is one which allows for everyone to participate in the decision making of the company. This increases the productivity of the people in the team and also allows for allowing for the team members to express their creativity and also demonstrate their abilities and talents which do not be seen in the other styles of leadership. Also, it has been noted that there is a clear development of skills and abilities. This form of leadership provides the team with a chance to learn their weaknesses and work on improving their weaknesses. This is not only useful for the current job, but also for future jobs and their career as a whole. Also, this st yle of leadership also provides the team with a range of possibilities. This style provides a new direction to decision making and instead of placing all the load on one individual it sees all problems, issues, and processes from several different angles. This method also allows me to use brainstorming as a solution to issues. Using a brainstorming is one which is most useful as any process can be improved and every issue can have a better approach if a number of aspects are considered (Slocum and Hellriegel, 2006).Ã
